There are mountain communities in Myanmar that aren’t near a stream or river, and efforts to drill a well have failed due to the low water table. Communities like Htee Kan Laung collect rainwater and store it for the dry season. They use tarps strung over bamboo frames to store the water. Below are links to documents created and submitted to Shanta Foundation for approval from the Htee Kan Laung Village Development Team for a water collection system infrastructure project. This is just an example of the processes learned and practiced with the guidance of Shanta Foundation’s Program Officers throughout their 6-year partnership.
