A Letter From the Board of Directors
A very warm hello to our Shanta supporters!
2018 was an exciting year, filled with many opportunities for growth and learning. It was also a year of honoring our founders, Mike and Tricia Karpfen, and appreciating the amazing organization they launched 13 years ago. It has also been a year of creating stability during organizational transition as well as beginning to look forward into the future–and there is much to be excited about!
We are fortunate to have onboarded Shanta’s new Executive Director, Laurie Meininger. She has already completed two trips to Myanmar and is actively leading the organization forward. At the same time, she brings a deep respect and appreciation for Shanta’s Guiding Principles, the secret sauce behind Shanta’s programs. As a Board, we are committed to continually finding the balance point between staying true to those principles, which have enabled Shanta’s sustainable approach, and looking for innovative ways to be even more effective and efficient in delivering our mission.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to express our deep appreciation and gratitude to you, Shanta’s ambassadors and supporters. There are many worthy organizations, we are grateful you have put your trust and support in Shanta. Your contributions have created an amazing organization with profound impact in a part of the world that has been overlooked for decades. Thanks to you, we can continue to expand Shanta’s impact in our partner villages, partnering with villagers on their path out of poverty.
